After the unification of Nepal by King Prithivi Narayan Shah- in 1769, there were different norms and practices to check corruption and other irregularities. The Muluki Ain, of 1854 had made provisions to ensure the control of corruption. Prevention of Corruption Act, 1953 consolidated all the scattered legal provisions in a single Act and also constituted a separate Department to control corruption of administration. Civil Servant's (Prevention of Corruption) Act, 1957 was a further step to improve the legal regime relating to control corruption of the civil servants in Nepal .
After the establishment of Democracy in 2007 B.S; Anti corruption act 2009 B.S came into effect which tried to integrate all the scattered legal systems related anti corruption. There onwards, civil servant (anti corruption) act 2013 B. S.; Anti corruption act 2017 B.S. and Muluki Ain 2020 B.S. were came into effect. Likewise under the constitution of Nepal , 2019 B.S., the provision of Commissions for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) was established for the eradication of corruption.
he constitution of Nepal , 2047 had given the authority of investigating the corruption activities to Commissions for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
